About
The Tradesman & The King exists to help electrical apprentices become skilled, trusted, and valued—not only by what they know, but by how they show up, work, and grow.
Built for the part of the trade no one explains
Most apprentices are taught how to install the work. Far fewer are taught how to communicate, earn trust, handle correction, take initiative, and become the person a crew wants to keep. This platform is built to close that gap.
The standard is simple
SKILLED
Learn the craft, understand the work, and keep improving without pretending to know what you don’t.
TRUSTED
Show up prepared, communicate honestly, accept correction, and do what you say you will do.
VALUED
Develop the judgment, initiative, and leadership that make your presence matter to the crew.
Why I built this

I’m Markell Taylor, founder of The Tradesman & The King and a licensed journeyman electrician who came through the apprenticeship process myself. I’ve seen firsthand that technical ability alone does not make someone the apprentice every journeyman wants on the crew.
I created The Tradesman & The King to make the lessons beyond the technical work clearer—how to earn trust, communicate well, accept correction, take ownership, develop initiative, and grow into leadership. The guidance here will draw from real experience and conversations with apprentices, journeymen, foremen, and other tradespeople.
The philosophy behind the name
“Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.”
— Proverbs 22:29
That verse captures the heart of The Tradesman & The King: pursue excellence in what is currently in your hands. Skill develops trust. Trust leads to greater responsibility and opportunity. The goal is not simply to escape the trades, but to build an extraordinary career within them through craftsmanship, character, professionalism, and leadership.
